Yes. Most export sanitaryware factories in Morbi and Thangadh will put your brand on the product and on the carton. The logo is usually a ceramic decal fired onto the glaze, so it lasts as long as the WC or basin.
Branding is the easy part. The harder questions are who owns the design, whose name sits on the certificates, and what minimum the factory sets for branded goods.
Where your brand can go
- On the ceramic itself, as a small fired decal on the WC bowl, cistern or basin. Ask for the logo position and size on a drawing.
- On the flush button or cistern lid, if the fittings supplier can print or engrave it.
- On the seat cover hinge cap or the seat cover packaging.
- On the master carton, with your artwork, product code and barcode.
- On the installation leaflet and warranty card inside the box.
Carton artwork
Carton printing works much as it does for tiles. Our guide on private label tile boxes covers artwork files, proofs and print runs, and most of it applies here too.
Fired decal or sticker
A fired decal is applied before the final firing, or in a lower-temperature refire. It becomes part of the glaze surface and will not wash off. A sticker or screen print on top of the glaze is cheaper to set up but wears with cleaning.
For an export brand, ask for a fired decal. Approve a fired sample, not a digital mock-up, because colours shift in the kiln. Check that the logo is level and sharp, and that the glaze around it shows no bubbles.
Certification in the right name
This is the point most new importers miss. Product certificates and listings are issued for a named model from a named manufacturer. A test report for the factory's own model does not automatically cover the same WC sold under your brand.
Before you commit, ask the factory how its certificates will cover your branded models. For the EU, the factory's Declaration of Performance and test reports should match the product you sell. For North America, see cUPC and ASME certification for toilets, and check with the certifier how a private-label listing is handled.
Protect your brand
- Register your trademark in your own market before you print anything.
- State in the contract that the factory may not use your logo, cartons or artwork for any other buyer.
- If a model is made from moulds paid for by you, record who owns the moulds and what happens to them if you change factory.
- Keep your own copy of all artwork files and the approved colour proofs.
Minimums and lead time
Branded goods carry their own minimums. The decal printer and the carton printer each have a minimum run, and the factory must keep your stock separate. Expect the first branded order to take longer than an unbranded one because proofs and decal samples add a step. Our article on the sanitaryware MOQ in Morbi explains how these minimums stack up.
