Rajkot jewellery manufacturers list: how to build a shortlist

Why a public list of Rajkot jewellery manufacturers is not enough, and how to shortlist and score exporters and makers before you place an order.

· 3 min read · Creston & Co

A Rajkot jewellery manufacturers list from a directory or search engine is only a starting point, because listings rarely show who actually makes the goods or how well. To find the best jewellery manufacturer in Rajkot for your range, you need to build your own shortlist and score each maker on the same criteria.

The same applies to searches for Rajkot jewellery exporters and artificial jewellery suppliers in Rajkot: names are easy to find, quality is not.

Why public lists fall short

Directories mix makers, traders and agents under one heading. Entries are written by the company itself and may be years out of date. Ratings are easy to buy or copy. Many listed exporters have never shipped to your market.

A name on a list says nothing about capacity, sampling speed or finish. Trader or manufacturer explains why identifying the real producer is step one.

How to build a shortlist

Start broad, then narrow. Collect ten to fifteen names from directories, trade contacts and referrals, then remove those that do not make your product type. Contact the rest with the same brief and compare responses.

Aim for a final shortlist of about three. How many suppliers on a shortlist explains why more is not better. Keep the next best as a backup.

How to score each maker

Score each on the same sheet. Useful criteria are:

  • Product fit: does the maker make your style, material and finish every day?
  • Proof of production: workshop video, address, a visit.
  • Sample quality and speed over at least two rounds.
  • Test reports for your market and understanding of the rules.
  • Export experience and documents.
  • Communication: clear, quick, consistent answers.
  • Terms: minimums, lead times and payment structure.

Use a scorecard

A written scorecard stops a friendly manner or a lowest quote from deciding for you. See the supplier scorecard for a template, and weigh criteria by what matters for your product. A bridal range puts finish first; a promotional range may put lead time first.

Also avoid choosing on the sample alone. A beautiful sample does not prove the bulk will match.

What does a good first contact look like?

Send the same short brief to each maker: the designs or reference photos, the quantity range, the finish, the destination market and the date you need the goods. Ask the same questions of each and compare the answers.

A good reply is specific. It names the process, gives realistic timing, asks sensible questions about your design and offers a sample route. A poor reply is a catalogue link and a request for a deposit. Ignore any supplier that avoids a video call or will not name the workshop address. These simple tests remove most of the unsuitable names from a list.

Keep your scoring sheet. Months later, when a reorder is due or a maker slips, it shows you who the next best option was and why you ranked them that way.
