What sizes of floor tiles are standard in Morbi?

Morbi's core floor sizes are 600x600, 600x1200 and 800x800 mm, with 800x1600 and larger slabs, wood planks, and smaller formats for outdoor and older ceramic floors.

The most common floor tile sizes in Morbi are 600x600 mm, 600x1200 mm and 800x800 mm. Around these sit larger formats such as 800x1600 and 1200x1200 mm, wood-look planks, and smaller sizes for outdoor, parking and older ceramic floors.

Not every factory makes every size. A plant's press, moulds and kiln width decide what it can produce, so the size you need is one of the first filters when you shortlist factories.

Core sizes

  • 600x600 mm: the workhorse size for GVT, PGVT, double-charge and full-body tiles. Most factories make it, and the design choice is the widest.
  • 600x1200 mm: the most popular large rectangular size. It suits modern homes, offices and shops, and is common in GVT and PGVT.
  • 800x800 mm: a larger square, popular for living areas, lobbies and showrooms where fewer joints are wanted.
  • 1200x1200 mm: a big square for open-plan spaces. Fewer plants make it, and handling needs more care.

Large formats and slabs

Plants with large presses make 800x1600, 1200x1800 and 1200x2400 mm and bigger. These are often called slabs and are used on floors, walls and countertops. They need special packing, such as A-frames or crates, and careful handling. See porcelain slab sizes for that range.

Plank sizes

Wood-look tiles come in long, narrow planks. Common sizes include 200x1200 mm, 200x1000 mm and 150x900 mm, with some plants making longer or wider planks. Long planks show warpage more easily, so ask for a flatness check. Our guide to wood-look tiles covers this range.

Smaller sizes

  • 300x300 mm: common for parking tiles, outdoor tiles and some bathroom floors.
  • 400x400 mm and 395x395 mm: older ceramic floor sizes still sold into price-sensitive markets.
  • 300x600 mm: used for floors and walls, and in some outdoor ranges.

Thickness by size

Larger tiles are usually thicker, because they must resist bending. Each factory sets its own thickness for each size, and double-charge or outdoor tiles may be thicker than GVT. Ask for the data sheet thickness and check it on samples. The details are in floor tile thickness.

Choosing a size for your market

Size choice is often set by local habit. Some markets still buy a lot of 600x600, while others have moved to 600x1200 and 800x1600. Think about these points before you fix your range:

  • What local tilers are used to laying, and whether they have levelling systems for large tiles.
  • Whether your warehouse and delivery vans can handle long boxes or crates.
  • How many square metres fit in a container for each size, which differs because of weight.
  • Whether the same design is available in more than one size, so you can offer a matching set.

Size names such as 600x600 are nominal, and the real size may differ by a few millimetres. That is explained in what 600x600, 600x1200 and 800x800 mean.
