As of October 2026, the USA is the largest single market for India's engineering exports, followed by regions such as the EU, West Asia and North Africa, and South-East Asia. Gujarat is one of India's leading engineering exporting states, so its goods follow broadly the same pattern.
Official data is published for India as a whole and by state, but not in detail for each Gujarat city or product. Treat the figures below as a guide to where Indian engineering goods already go, not as a ranking of Gujarat suppliers.
What the latest data shows
EEPC India, the government-backed export promotion council for engineering goods, publishes regular reviews of engineering exports. Its review for April to June 2026, the first quarter of India's 2026-27 financial year, reported these shares by region:
- North America took the largest share, at about 20% of India's engineering exports.
- The EU followed at about 17%.
- West Asia and North Africa, which includes the Gulf states, took about 14%.
- ASEAN countries in South-East Asia took about 11%.
- North East Asia took about 9%.
Gujarat's place
The same EEPC review listed Gujarat as the second-largest engineering exporting state in that quarter, with about 16% of India's engineering exports, behind Maharashtra. It also named Gujarat as the fastest-growing of the top states in that period. Quarterly figures move, so check the latest review before you rely on any single number.
Within Gujarat, each cluster has its own pattern. Pumps and small engines from Rajkot have long sold to Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia, where farm irrigation demand is strong. Brass parts from Jamnagar go widely to Europe and North America for plumbing and electrical uses. Process and pharma machinery from Ahmedabad sells across Asia and Africa as well as to developed markets.
Why this matters to you
A supplier that already ships to your region usually knows its standards, documents and packing rules. A factory that sells to the EU should understand CE marking and the paperwork that goes with it. One that ships to the USA should understand thread standards, labelling and US customs needs.
