A bedsheet's wholesale price from India depends on the yarn, the thread count, the weave, the finish, the size and the packing. A towel is usually priced by weight, so the price per kilogram follows the weight of each towel, the yarn quality and the weave. There is no single figure, and we do not publish one. A quote is only meaningful for a stated specification.
Bedsheets and towels are made in different mills and priced on different logic. Treat them as two quotes.
What drives the price of a bedsheet?
The big items are the cotton and yarn count, the thread count, the weave and the finish. A higher thread count uses finer yarn and more threads, as explained in bedsheet thread counts from India. Percale and sateen are different weaves with different cost, set out in percale versus sateen.
Printing and dyeing follow. A plain white sheet costs less than a reactive-printed one. Embroidery and trims add more.
Size changes the fabric used. A king set uses much more cloth than a single, so quote each size separately.
Why towels are quoted by weight
A terry towel is mostly yarn. For that reason, mills often quote by the kilogram of finished towel, with a stated weight per piece. Two towels at the same price per kilogram can differ by a wide margin in cost per piece if one is heavier.
Yarn type matters too. Combed or ring-spun yarn costs more than open-end, and gives a softer and stronger towel. Dyed-yarn borders, jacquard designs and heavy pile all add cost.
Buyers asking about bedsheet wholesale price in India or a towel price per kg should also ask whether the quote is for first-grade goods only, because mills often mix in a share of seconds at the same rate. Specify the weight of each piece in grams, the size, the yarn and the colour. Ask for the tolerance on weight, and check it on arrival, as in arrival checks for textile goods.
Costs that sit outside the fabric
Packing is a larger part of home-textile cost than buyers expect, and it is often the line that explains why two bedsheet or towel quotes differ. Retail packing, such as a polybag, an inner card or a printed box, is priced per piece. The labels, hang tags and care labels are added, and custom packaging and labels covers the options.
Compliance testing and certificates, such as OEKO-TEX or GOTS, also sit in the price if you require them. The cost of cushion covers and table linen follows similar logic, as in cushion cover and table linen cost drivers.
How to compare wholesale quotes
Write one specification and send it to each mill. It should contain these points:
- Fibre, yarn count and construction, with thread count for sheets or grams per piece for towels.
- Finished size, colours and design, with the number of colours in each design.
- Finish and any certificates required.
- Packing for each piece and each carton, with the label artwork.
- Quantity per size and colour, delivery date and Incoterm.
